As a result, Zhong, who failed to finish his fifth grade, was forced to drop out of school and work in the countryside as a mason and carpenter to help support his family.
I did that for 11 years.
In 1977, when the Cultural Revolution ended, the national college entrance examination was restored.
Zhong, 23, has been bitter about not finishing his education, so when he was offered the chance to further his studies, he could not have let it go.So he rushed to sign up for the college entrance exam before the deadline.
But Zhong dropped out of school in the fifth grade because his background was so poor that he could not understand even the most basic algebra, and he failed the college entrance exam by 20 points for two consecutive years.
When the Third Plenum of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing in 1978, Zhong’s parents were put on a list of “rectifying chaos” and finally cleared to work in the broadcasting industry.
On the advice of his parents, Zhong has decided to stay on for another year and switch his target university to Zhejiang Radio and Television University.
His good friend Meizhi recalled:
“I ran around the floor, holding a cup of hot tea, wearing an old overcoat and tattered cotton-padded shoes, sometimes to discuss a difficult problem, sometimes just turning around in vain to calm my nerves.”
Time paid off, and Zhong Shanshan finally passed the exam.
After graduating from university, Zhong, 30, is preparing to set out to work for his dream job at Zhejiang Daily.
To this end, he also began to fully prepare for the exam into the newspaper, and even moved to the mobile dormitory building of the Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Literature.
At that time, Ma also happened to be reviewing in the dormitory of Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Arts, preparing for his third college entrance examination.
So the two became up and down the stairs of the “neighbors.”
According to Ma Yun recalls, at that time, two people often you lend me pen, I lend you basin, so one and two also gradually familiar with.
At the end of the day, the two inspire each other, and the lights in the room go on from late night to early morning.
Because Ma Yun is the third battle of the college entrance examination, the first two failures made him bear unprecedented pressure, Ma Yun once admitted: “during that period of time nearly collapsed”.
