Japan’s manufacturing industry is recovering from the decline caused by the epidemic. According to the latest data released by the Japan Machinery Federation (JMF) on the 28th, it is estimated that Japan’s total machinery industry production in 2021 will increase by 8.9% to 7 trillion 537.1 billion yen, an increase in three years.
JMF estimates that the production of boilers, prime movers and other general machinery in Japan in 2021 will increase by about 10% over last year, and the transportation machinery will also have a stable performance. But they are also worried about the shortage of semiconductors and parts, which may affect production.
Japan’s machinery production in 2021 showed a comprehensive rebound compared with 2020, which was severely hit by the epidemic. JMF predicts that only Zitong machinery production will decline slightly in 2021, and it is estimated that the overall performance can not exceed the total production in 2019 before the epidemic (about 7.2 billion yen).
JMF said that under the influence of shortage problems such as semiconductors, the recovery of the machinery industry will stand still. It is expected that the growth rate of machinery production in the second half of 2021 will be lower than that in the first half of the same year.
In terms of categories, it is estimated that Japan’s production of general machinery will increase by 10.9% to 15 trillion 816.8 billion yen in 2021. Among them, semiconductor manufacturing devices / flat panel display manufacturing devices are expected to increase by 19.1% a year, performing well, and the amount will also exceed the 3 trillion yen mark. The estimate has reflected the relevant equipment investment made by the semiconductor industry to alleviate the shortage of supply and demand.
