In the second half of the year, the centralized procurement of 5g related equipment and services launched by the three operators increased significantly, and the 5g construction accelerated significantly. Listed companies, as the main participants in 5g construction, have received frequent good news recently. Communication equipment enterprises, including ZTE, mobile communication and guanghetong, are regular customers on the bid winning list of centralized procurement of operators.
5g construction speed up
On August 10, China Telecom took the lead in releasing the interim results. According to its relevant person in charge, affected by the global chip supply shortage, China Telecom’s capital expenditure in the first half of the year was nearly 27 billion yuan, less than one-third of the planned investment of 87 billion yuan in the whole year. China Telecom plans to build 180000 5g base stations in the whole year, only 50000 in the first half of the year.
On August 1, the joint centralized procurement project of wireless main equipment (2.1g) of 5g SA construction project in 2021 between China Telecom and China Unicom announced the bid winning candidates. For the project with a total scale of about 242000 stations, a total of 5 bidders participated in the bidding, and finally four manufacturers including Huawei, ZTE, Datang Mobile and Ericsson were shortlisted.
The construction of base stations in the 700MHz band, known as the “golden band”, was also started last month. On July 18, China Mobile announced the centralized procurement results of 5g 700m wireless network main equipment. The procurement scale is about 480000 5g 700MHz macro base stations. Among them, Huawei became the biggest winner, taking 60% of the share; ZTE’s share is about 30%; The rest were won by Shanghai Nokia bell, Datang Mobile and Ericsson (China).
Listed companies frequently get big orders
According to the data released by the three operators at the beginning of the year, the capital expenditure budget of the three operators in 2021 amounted to 340.6 billion yuan, including 184.7 billion yuan of 5g investment and 155.9 billion yuan of investment outside 5g. The reporter noted that in addition to 5g base stations, operators have also accelerated the construction of 5g transmission networks and new infrastructure such as data centers, cloud computing and the Internet of things.
On August 10, China Telecom announced the successful bidder of 5g prequel CWDM circulator semi-active system customization and on-site verification support service procurement project, and the listed company Yongding Co., Ltd. won the bid. On the same day, China Unicom officially released the normalized open market recruitment results of e-mall enterprise gateway, and 5 enterprises including Huawei and listed companies risconda and ZTE were shortlisted.
On August 6, China Mobile announced the bid winning results of centralized purchase of 5g general module products from 2021 to 2022, and 9 enterprises such as mobile communication, ZTE and guanghetong won the bid. The procurement of 5g general module products is the largest 5g product centralized procurement project of domestic operators, with a total procurement volume of 320000 pieces, and mobile communication has the largest share in this centralized procurement.
On August 4, China Mobile started the procurement of OTN (optical transmission network) equipment for the backbone transmission network phase 14 cloud private network service, and Huawei, ZTE and Fiberhome won the bid.
In China Mobile’s centralized purchase of high-end routers and high-end switches from 2021 to 2022, Huawei ranked second with a 24% share, and the first place was won by Xinhua 3, a subsidiary of Ziguang, with a purchase amount of up to 4.9 billion yuan.
